Josie Merrick was the Rizley Family Education Scholarship first recipient in 2023. We are pleased to announce she has been awarded the scholarship once again for the fall 2024 semester.
“As I approach the completion of my general education courses, I am excited to dive into courses that are more closely aligned with my major,” said Josie. One of her favorite courses was Children’s Literature which provided her with insight into the fun world of young learners.
Josie has transferred to SWOSU. The decision was based on academic considerations and the factor of being closer to mentorship and opportunities to work in a classroom. Josie has been gaining practical experience by substituting at Sayre Elementary. “This hands-on experience has been instrumental in shaping my teaching skills and reinforcing my commitment to making meaningful impacts in the lives of my future students.”
One of Josie’s goals is to return to Sayre Schools to teach. “I feel a deep gratitude towards Sayre Schools for the opportunities they have provided me, and I am passionate about giving back to the community that has given me so much. Go Eagles!”
Congratulations, Josie! We have faith you will “inspire student success.”
